Fortescue engaged our client Indurad to install iStacker radar instrumentation to optimise the Chevron Ply stacking functionality and improve machine to stockpile collision avoidance at Anderson Point. The project aimed to reduce car dumper cycle times through improved stacker control and provide additional collision avoidance under the stacker boom.

The client engaged the control systems and process optimisation team at Intellect Systems to complete the required system integration for the stacker radar instrumentation and upgraded functionality.

To achieve the desired outcome, our team designed and developed the stacking code based on two new iSDR-C radars installed by Indurad, optimised the stacking philosophy for Chevron Ply by utilising the real-time data, and implemented virtual tilt probes using radar measurements for boom to stockpile anti-collision protection.

Intellect System’s scope for this project included:

  • Environment setup, including PLCs and Cimplicity HMI
  • Simulation logic
  • PLC and HMI software development and internal testing
  • Merging of code into master code
  • Monitoring and online analysis with new logic running online in parallel with existing logic
  • Functional specification
  • Factory Acceptance Testing
  • Site Acceptance Testing
  • Commissioning support
  • Project management
  • Development of a quick reference guide for control room operators
