CBH Group has a network of more than 100 grain receival sites across Western Australia and four export port terminals. They own a state-of-the-art rail fleet dedicated to efficiently transferring grain from receival sites to port terminals.
CBH has committed to optimising the efficiency of its grain supply chain by investing in new rail loading infrastructure that enables faster train loading and improved productivity. A crucial aspect of this initiative involves the construction of new Fixed Rail Loading (FRL) facilities at Moora, Broomehill, and Cranbrook.
Intellect Systems was engaged to provide the detailed engineering design, manufacture, fabrication, inspection, and testing for the three new fixed rail loading facilities. The scope included the supply of:
Intellect Systems provided a fully integrated solution, encompassing both engineering design and product manufacturing, to deliver a customised, modular and future-proof outcome for the client.
The design considered the harsh environmental demands the products may be subjected to such as dust, water, fumigant and vermin ingress. The switchrooms and control rooms were constructed from fire-rated, non-combustible materials to ensure they are fit for purpose and resilient once installed in a rural application. Features such as toughened glass, underfloor insulation and hot-dipped galvanised (HDG) base frames were used to ensure long-lasting and reliable operation in a demanding environment.
Advanced automation and improved operator experience were provided through the development of intuitive touchscreen Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), PLCs and Citect SCADA systems. Energy monitoring was incorporated into all switchboards to allow for future energy management and renewable integration for the facilities. The final design is future-ready, with architecture enabled to allow for advancements such as automated train loading and centralised control and support.
Intellect Systems delivered a result that aligns with industry standards, enhances safety, and contributes to the overall efficiency and sustainability of the client’s operations. The solution sets the stage for future digitalisation, automation, and energy efficiency advancements.
