Overview
The Thunderbox gold mine is located in the North Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia, 41 km south of Leinster.
In 2021, the mine expanded its operations, and a key component of this expansion was the construction of a new high efficiency gas power station.
Our client, Alltype Engineering, was engaged to deliver the consumer gas pipeline for the new power station.
Scope
Alltype Engineering engaged Intellect Systems to manufacture the project switchboards. The scope included:
- Supply of Main Switchboard
- Supply of Distribution Board
- Supply of Communications Panel
- Supply of Control Panel

Intellect Systems deploys best industry practices throughout the switchgear manufacturing process and ensures all builds meet the stringent AS/NZS 61439 standards, guaranteeing high-quality construction and component suitability.
The Main Switchboard for this project incorporates Type 4b internal separation for a high level of internal arc protection, significantly reducing the risk of faults and ensuring safety during maintenance and operation. An Elsteel Techno enclosure was used for its high-quality construction and compliance to standards.
The Distribution Board was housed in an NHP Concept Premier Board enclosure, rated at IP66 for maximum protection against dust and water ingress.
The project unfolded during significant supply chain disruptions. Intellect Systems’ strong vendor partnerships and effective communication helped maintain a steady flow of materials, mitigating the impact of potential shortages.
