Intellect Systems are delighted to have been appointed by Valmec to provide an engineering turnkey solution for the electrical, control systems and instrumentation systems component of the Bannockburn Water Distribution Project for Saracen Minerals Holdings (SAR), located in the Mid West region of Western Australia.

Saracen recently re commenced mining operations at the Thunderbox tenements, and in line with future mining planning Saracen require a sustainable water supply to meet future forecasts for water usage to ensure the integrity of operations. The project designed to supply critical water to Saracen’s Thunderbox operations consists of a pipeline to pump water from the Bannockburn bore fields located approximately 37km from the Thunderbox Plant by two pump stations, the first of which will be located approximately 3km from the Bannockburn pit, with the second 19.6km along the identified pipe route, with the line terminating into the holding ponds located at the Thunderbox mine site.

Intellect’s proposed solution encompasses the design and manufacture of an innovative, integrated and modular containerised switchroom for each pump station comprising motor control centres (MCCs) for monitoring and control of local equipment and borefields, and associated telemetry to interface via radio to the site control systems at the Thunderbox plant. In addition to these works Intellect will design and implement a wireless radio solution that will overcome the challenges of providing high data throughput to carry voice and video data along with critical process information to identify and manage process conditions such as leak detection.

“We are excited to partner with Valmec to deliver this milestone water project for Saracen. With our unique ability to design and manufacture a modular solution in house we are able to add value to Valmec to reduce site installation works, fast tracking the project into production to meet Saracens tight delivery time frames whilst maintaining quality and eliminating inefficiencies in managing multiple interfaces.” Said Jason Monzu, Managing Director of Intellect Systems.
