Intellect & Moxa | Bridging the Connectivity Gap

By Uncategorized

Moxa and Australian Mining recently invited Intellect Systems to detail our experience on integrating Moxa’s industrial networking products on one of our recent magnetite projects and how they enhanced the overall value of the end product’s technology infrastructure.

Here’s an excerpt from the feature. The full article can be found via Australian Mining (written by Alexandra Eastwood).

Leading mining companies need the best in network infrastructure and data connectivity to ensure operations run smoothly.

So when a large magnetite project in WA found itself needing reliable connectivity, it was only natural that Intellect Systems, the company responsible for delivering the integrated operational technology solution, turned to Moxa’s networking devices and technical know-how.

“We provided end-to-end operational technology solutions, and for the project this encompassed a large part of the communications, electrical and control systems infrastructure,” Intellect Systems managing director Jason Monzu said.

“We were also a key technology partner of choice for the systems integration component, which included the control systems software development, acceptance testing and commissioning.”

This was not the first time Intellect Systems had partnered with Moxa, a leading provider of industrial networking, computing and automation solutions.

“We’ve been working with the Moxa product for over a decade now, and over that time we have built a vast knowledge base on how to specify, install and integrate their products,” Monzu said.

“We have a transparent and supportive relationship with the factory at Moxa as well as the local distribution channels.”

Moxa and Intellect Systems were joined were joined on the project by Colterlec, an electrical engineering distributor company.

“Moxa and Colterlec worked very closely to not only overcome any supply and demand challenges, but also any design changes,” Colterlec national general manager – Moxa Shahwar Khan said. “Intellect helped Colterlec with timely design changes, various approvals and providing new timelines.”

“It was important to accommodate the customer and contractor’s requirements of different models.

“Our planning and close coordination between Intellect Systems, Colterlec and Colterlec/Moxa made it possible to meet these deadlines.”

Colterlec also conducted a Moxa specialised network training for the end customer, consultants and the wider Intellect System team of engineers at its premises in Perth.

Moxa, which has been a trusted automation partner for the mining industry for almost 20 years, understands the time constraints and strict requirements that a large project demands.

“Because of the scale of the project, we had a large amount of work to do in a short amount of time,” Monzu said. “We worked with Moxa to find innovative ways to deliver .

“We were in discussions very early in the project phase about how we could deliver the solutions in accordance with the mine’s schedule and meet the requirements of the project.

“It was a great opportunity to be involved in and, from a project point of view, see Moxa’s networking solutions bring value to the technology infrastructure and process.”

Intellect Systems featured by NESMA

By Uncategorized

Recently, Intellect Systems was asked for our views on quality, compliance and the future of our industry by the National Electrical Switchboard Manufacturers Association (NESMA).

Here’s an excerpt from the profile. The full article can be found via NESMA’s website.

A company that specialises in end-to-end operational technology solutions for Australian and international projects, Intellect Systems, is using its breadth of expertise to advance cost-efficiencies, quality, safety, and compliance essentials.

The company – which has handled some of Australia’s biggest mining and infrastructure projects – is vigorously expanding its focus on renewables and transport electrification infrastructure benefitting from smart, practical and effective use of technology to improve and streamline and processes including electrical and control systems.

“Intellect Systems’ end-to-end process means we have the capability to tailor a complete turnkey Operational Technology solution for our clients. Our process bridges the gap between the designer and manufacturer, ensuring the final assets will achieve compliance requirements and suit the desired application,” says Jason Monzu, Managing Director, Intellect Systems.

“In projects where the designer and manufacturer are separate entities, we’ve witnessed ambiguity in the product design and the ownership of the product meeting regulatory standards, with responsibility being passed back and forth. Compliance requirements are often changing, and those requirements need consideration during the design phase.”

“Our advantage is by having both the product design and manufacture handled in-house, we have skin in the game all the way through the project. This guarantees to our clients that both engineering and manufacturing are in unison when it comes to compliance and regulation adherence.”

Intellect has invested in autonomous processing and production optimisation, to minimise waste, maximise efficiency, ensure consistency, and deliver cost savings which we then pass on to our clients.

“We want to make sure that our industry is protected. Sub-par products can produce a dangerous scenario which then sets the industry back as a whole. Good governance and quality assurance are key focuses at Intellect Systems, which is why, along with being a NESMA member, we are also ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified.”

Intellect Deliver Customised Schneider PLC & HMI Training

By Company News, Uncategorized

Intellect Systems were recently engaged by a valued client to deliver a customised Schneider PLC & Citect SCADA training package for their on site technicians and engineers. Existing training packages in the marketplace did not fit the specific requirements of the client who were looking for a tailored package using their site specific environment as well as PLC & SCADA software and hardware.

Intellect Systems developed a custom web based E-Learning package with built in simulation and training exercises. The module guides trainees through common PLC and SCADA system tasks that would be experienced in a site technical support environment specific to the client operations. In conjunction with this package, a classroom training session was held that incorporated a running plant simulation to provide real time training on the Schneider PLC and Citect SCADA software in a safe and controlled environment.
