Mineral Resource’s (MinRes) Onslow Iron Project involves developing a series of previously inaccessible iron ore deposits to produce and export 30Mtpa of fine iron ore products.
To support the project’s autonomous road haulage system operations, MinRes has constructed a state-of-the-art truck maintenance facility that will service the autonomous road trains making the 170km journey from the mine site to the Port of Ashburton.
MinRes engaged Intellect System’s engineering team to design the electrical, communication, and security aspects of the Onslow Truck Maintenance Facility.
The scope included:
Intellect Systems’ electrical engineering team was engaged to provide the client with an integrated solution encompassing all aspects of the site-wide electrical design for power, communications, external and internal lighting and security systems.
With the Onslow Iron Project on a fast-tracked timeline, MinRes required the Truck Maintenance Facility to become operational quickly. The Intellect team worked closely with MinRes to meet their tight project timeline and coordinated with external stakeholders like Horizon Power and Telstra to ensure mains power and communications infrastructure was ready to be brought onto the site.
The project scope expanded when a suitable off-the-shelf solution wasn’t available for the automated washdown facility. Our team adapted and designed bespoke control panels with automatic and manual functions to provide power and control. The automatic function detects the speed at which a truck drives through, turning on jets sequentially to clean carriages, while the manual function allows personnel to use a pressure cleaner to spray down the vehicles.
The Onslow Truck Maintenance Facility project is just one example of Intellect’s capability to deliver comprehensive and adaptable electrical design solutions tailored to the client’s demanding operational needs.
